A frightening number of robots are set to overwhelm and dominate humanity, if the prediction of a powerful, oil-rich Arab state minister is anything to go by.

Speaking at a high-level meeting of globally important government officials, including Elon Musk, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi (pictured with Musk in main image), minister of cabinet affairs of the United Arab Emirates and chairman of the World Government Summit, suggests an astonishing “20 billion robots” will bash human beings into shape, in a manner of speaking.

Under the theme of “Shaping Future Governments”, Gergawi posits that an unprecedented number of robots will reshape human lifestyles, human labour markets and human societies – effectively making the world robot-oriented, rather than human-centred. Nvidia unveils Cosmos platform for robotics development

Nvidia has unveiled its Cosmos World Foundation Model platform for the development of physical AI systems such as autonomous vehicles and robots.

Cosmos comprises state-of-the-art generative world foundation models, advanced tokenizers, guardrails and an accelerated video processing pipeline built to “advance the development of physical AI systems”, says Nvidia.

Physical AI models are costly to develop, and require vast amounts of real-world data and testing. Cosmos world foundation models, or WFMs, offer developers an easy way to generate massive amounts of photoreal, physics-based synthetic data to train and evaluate their existing models. FedEx opens new automated sorting facility at Memphis World Hub

FedEx has unveiled a new, state-of-the-art, automated sorting facility at the Memphis World Hub.

The LEED Certified building, which is now fully operational ahead of the holiday peak season, spans 1.3 million square feet across four levels, includes 11 miles of conveyor belt, has a space dedicated to moving bulky, non-conveyable shipments, and can sort 56,000 packages per hour.
