All About IoT Tracking Technologies

May 20, 2024 by David Edwards

IoT tracking uses small devices with wireless technology to monitor the location of objects like vehicles, equipment, or even pets. These tracking devices connect to the internet and communicate where the object is located using technologies like GPS, Bluetooth, or cellular networks.

The location data gets sent to a computer system or smartphone app so you can see where the tracked item is on a map in real-time. Different tracking technologies work better for different situations – GPS is great for outdoors, while Bluetooth is useful for indoor spaces.

IoT tracking allows businesses to efficiently manage fleets of vehicles or valuable equipment, and consumers can use it to keep tabs on belongings, kids, or furry friends. Setting up IoT tracking involves choosing devices and services that fit your range and tracking needs. [Read more…] about All About IoT Tracking Technologies

Drones navigate unseen environments with liquid neural networks

April 26, 2023 by Mark Allinson

MIT researchers exhibit a new advancement in autonomous drone navigation, using brain-inspired liquid neural networks that excel in out-of-distribution scenarios

In the vast, expansive skies where birds once ruled supreme, a new crop of aviators is taking flight. These pioneers of the air are not living creatures, but rather a product of deliberate innovation: drones.

But these aren’t your typical flying bots, humming around like mechanical bees. Rather, they’re avian-inspired marvels that soar through the sky, guided by liquid neural networks to navigate ever-changing and unseen environments with precision and ease.

Inspired by the adaptable nature of organic brains, researchers from MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory introduced a method for robust flight navigation agents to master vision-based fly-to-target tasks in intricate, unfamiliar environments. Nokia and Rohde & Schwarz jointly explore feasibility of drone-based network measurement solution

December 21, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Nokia has signed an agreement with network measurement technology provider Rohde & Schwarz to embed QualiPoc 4.9G/LTE and 5G network measurement capabilities into the Nokia Drone Networks platform.

The companies say this is the “first software-embedded solution of its kind” and will expand the use cases for drones to provide communication service providers (CPS), private wireless partners and enterprises with deeper knowledge around their wireless network coverage and performance for more efficient utilisation.

Nokia and Rohde & Schwarz will jointly work on a prototype that integrates mobile network measurement and troubleshooting QualiPoc capabilities using QualiPoc software from Rohde & Schwarz, embedded directly into the Nokia drone, connected to the MX Industrial Edge (MXIE) over the Digital Automated Cloud (DAC). Worldwide installations of automated guided vehicles at seaports to exceed 150,000

June 19, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Seaports globally have increased their automation solutions or kickstarted automation initiatives to mitigate port congestion.

Equipment like gantries, automated port gates, stacking cranes, and horizontal transport solutions, such as automated guided vehicles (AGVs) that transport containers and loads to and from ships, have been the most productivity-enhancing solutions in seaports.

According to ABI Research, a global technology intelligence firm, worldwide AGV deployments in seaports will have a compound annual growth rate of over 26 percent from 2022 to 2027 and exceed 150,000 global deployments by 2027. How robots and RPA will change the business of the future

May 17, 2022 by David Edwards

In the whole world, large companies are often credited with such qualities as immobility and bureaucracy, which seems quite logical: the larger the enterprise and the more complex its structure, the more difficult it is to make changes.

On the other hand, the larger the company, the more resources it has and the more expensive the inefficiency of even one process is, so the biggest players in the market need to be the innovators.

There are people who still do not believe in the introduction of robotics everywhere, but a few years ago no one could believe that soon all people would use social networks daily and spend money on promoting their pages. [Read more…] about How robots and RPA will change the business of the future
