NuPort Robotics to take its autonomous trucks and buses to India

NuPort Robotics, a Canadian autonomous trucking company, says it plans to set up operations in India with a mission to improve safety on Indian roads.

NuPort’s technology provides transportation solutions for heavy-duty commercial vehicles, such as buses and trucks, by enabling next-generation automated vehicles to be more fuel-efficient and safer to operate with enhanced driver experience.

NuPort is targeting the deployment of Level 2 autonomy which includes advanced driver assistance systems, data analysis and driver suggestions – all of which cumulatively lead to safer and more efficient vehicle performance. India’s richest man spends $132 million buying majority stake in robotics company

India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, has bought the majority stake – 54 percent – in a robotics company called Addverb Technologies through his Reliance Industries conglomerate.

Addverb Technologies is a warehouse automation company, mainly in the intralogistics space, providing autonomous mobile robots and other systems, and was already working with Reliance Industries.

New Suzuki factory in India starts operation

Suzuki Motor Gujarat, a wholly owned subsidiary of Suzuki Motor for the production of automobiles in India, has completed construction of the Plant C, and started production from April 2021.

Suzuki established SMG in March 2014, aiming to secure production ability in preparation for the automobile market growth in India, as well as for expansion of exports from India.

Apple poised to become $2 trillion company

US tech giant Apple is poised to become a $2 trillion company “very soon”, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The company was the first to achieve a trillion-dollar market capitalization a couple of years ago, and today is about 1 percent below the level needed to exceed $2 trillion.

India to send humanoid robot astronaut into space

India is planning to send a humanoid robot astronaut into space, according to a number of media reports. (See video below.)

Called “Vyommitra”, the humanoid robot has been given a female form and does not have any legs. India Today reports that it can “recognise astronauts, converse with them and answer their questions”.

The so-called “Industry 4.0” trend – an umbrella term for a range of connectivity and automation technologies – will “revolutionize” the use of safety sensors and switches, according to a new report.

The Global Market Study on Safety Sensors and Switches, by Persistent Market Research, says the global market is projected to expand at “a meteoric rate” to register annual growth of 10.7 per cent throughout the period of assessment, 2017-2025.

Mitsubishi Electric’s new plant in India to produce automotive products

Mitsubishi Electric says it will start construction of a new plant on the premises of its subsidiary Mitsubishi Electric Automotive India in Gujarat, India.

The company’s new plant, along with one in Manesar, Haryana, will enable MEAI to expand its output of products such as motor-control units for electric power steering, exhaust gas recirculation valves and giant magnet-resistance sensors.
