Electric Vehicles are Part of the Future of Frugal Living

February 14, 2025 by Mark Allinson

Electric cars are no longer a dream of the future; they are now the hype on the roads. With growing concerns over climate change and air quality, EVs promise a sustainable replacement for traditional gasoline-run automobiles.

In direct support of the values of frugal living, the move to electric mobility means minimum waste, expense, and living within one’s available resources. By embracing electric vehicles, we can significantly reduce our transportation costs, aligning with the core principles of frugal living.

Furthermore, utilizing other tools like budgeting apps and ride-sharing services can further enhance our financial well-being and help us live more economically. [Read more…] about Electric Vehicles are Part of the Future of Frugal Living

Battery electric vehicles vs hydrogen fuel cell vehicles: Which technology will power the future?

February 14, 2025 by Mark Allinson

Despite all the hype about electric cars, the vast majority of motorists still drive petrol-driven vehicles – approximately 7 percent of new car sales were electric last year.

And while governments have already outlined the phasing out of internal combustion engines, it is by no means certain that this is something that will actually happen – there may be stronger resistance to it closer to the time and the consumers simply might not want to make the switch, despite their best environmental intentions.

The problem is that green cars – most of which are lithium-ion battery powered – are still not quite as good as people want them to be. Electric supercars aside, general production cars that are battery powered tend to have limited range and lack power. It’s the same problem as several years ago, when electric vehicle sales started taking off. 6 New Advances in the Automotive Aftermarket

February 11, 2025 by Mark Allinson

The automotive aftermarket industry is all about the parts, services, and upgrades needed to keep a vehicle running after it leaves the dealership.

Over the past few years, this industry has seen big changes thanks to new technology, shifting customer needs, and evolving regulations.

According to Grand View Research, the global automotive aftermarket is expected to grow from $468.91 billion in 2024 to over $585 billion by 2030. [Read more…] about 6 New Advances in the Automotive Aftermarket

Automotive revolution: Innovation, industrial autonomy, and global challenges

February 10, 2025 by Mark Allinson

By Laurent Coussonnet, business development director, Linxens

The automotive industry is at a crossroads: between technological innovations and environmental challenges, it must reinvent its models for a sustainable future. But which regions, technologies, and policies will shape this global revolution?

Despite a 10 percent growth in 2023, global car sales are expected to slow to 2-3 percent in 2024, far from pre-pandemic levels.

Electric vehicles (EVs), the drivers of this transition, saw record growth of 32 percent in 2023, but rising interest rates and stricter credit conditions will weigh on the ability of households and businesses to finance capacities, postponing some vehicle purchases to 2025. Is the eVTOL market dead? We take a high-level look

January 2, 2025 by David Edwards

Here at RoboticsAndAutomationNews.com Towers, we love to let readers know about completely new technologies that are opening up entirely new and unpredicted markets – or at least ones we hadn’t thought about here.

I mean, things like the electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOLs) – small, light aircraft about the size of a car designed to carry around four passengers over short distances. eVOTLs have been subject of much hype over the past few years.

We’ve been part of that hype in the sense that we have covered the market extensively even though, strictly speaking, it probably doesn’t come within our subject area of robotics and automation – we have to stretch the meaning somewhat anyway.
