Blaize partners with Accton to bring edge AI computing to robotic inspection

Computing specialist Blaize has agreed a strategic partnership with Accton, a premier provider of networking and communications solutions, to bring edge AI computing to the AI inspection market.

The Accton Smart Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) solution will utilize the Blaize Pathfinder P1600 Embedded System on Module (SoM) to add visual AI production line inspection for assembly, manufacturing, packaging, and appearance activities.

Colby Chou, IoT business unit head of Accton, says: “We are pleased to partner with Blaize to provide our customers with a cost-effective AI inspection service. Our solution helps our customer reduces up to 85 percent of the operators’ workload and significantly improves product quality. AMD partners with eCarX to develop advanced car technologies

AMD has agreed a strategic collaboration with eCarX, a mobility technology startup. The companies will work together on an in-vehicle computing platform for next-generation electric vehicles, expected to be in mass production for global rollout in late 2023.

The eCarX digital cockpit will be the first in-vehicle platform to be offered with AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000 processors and AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series GPUs along with eCarX hardware and software.

Combining the extensive experience in automotive digital cockpit design of eCarX with AMD advanced computing power and stunning visual graphic rendering capabilities, the companies aim to deliver an innovative in-car experience. Intel’s new AI chip enables ‘real-time learning for robots’

Intel Labs, in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Technology and the Technical University of Munich, has introduced a new approach to neural network-based object learning.

It specifically targets future applications like robotic assistants that interact with unconstrained environments, including in logistics, healthcare or elderly care.

This research is a crucial step in improving the capabilities of future assistive or manufacturing robots. It uses neuromorphic computing through new interactive online object learning methods to enable robots to learn new objects after deployment. Multiverse Computing to develop quantum digital twin for Bosch manufacturing facility

Multiverse Computing, a quantum computing solutions provider, is collaborating in a research project with the Bosch Automotive Electronics plant in Madrid to leverage the power of quantum computing in the virtual replica or “digital twin” of a factory.

Multiverse is implementing quantum-based optimization algorithms at Bosch, delivering cutting-edge electronics components to several original equipment manufacturers around the world.

The Multiverse software solution will leverage data to assess the performance of individual equipment as well as broader production processes to enhance quality control and improve overall efficiencies, including energy and waste management. Chalmers University selects Lenovo and Nvidia to build Swedish national supercomputer

Chalmers University of Technology is using Lenovo and Nvidia’s technology infrastructure to power its large-scale computer resource, or supercomputer, Alvis.

The project has seen the delivery and implementation of a clustered computing system for artificial intelligence and machine learning research, in what is Lenovo’s largest high-performance computing cluster for AI and ML in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Siemens partners with Pasqal to research quantum applications in computer aided engineering, simulation and testing

Pasqal, a company which develops neutral atom-based quantum computing, has reached a multi-year research agreement with Siemens Digital Industries Software to advance the field of quantum computational multiphysics simulation.

Siemens is a global leader in the field of computer-aided engineering. Pasqal’s proprietary quantum methods to solve complex nonlinear differential equations are expected to enhance the performance of Siemens’ software solutions which are used for computer aided product design and testing in amongst others the automotive, electronics, energy and aerospace sectors.

Over the past year, we have seen the growing adoption of centralized computing in Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) fleets. In this article, we ask if this trend is the best approach, especially in advanced deployments with a large number of AMRs and dynamic, non-sterile environments.

AMD completes acquisition of Xilinx

AMD has completed the acquisition of Xilinx, creating a “high-performance and adaptive computing leader”.

The acquisition is officially the largest in semiconductor history and brings together two industry leaders with complementary product portfolios, customers and market expertise.

Startup awarded $5 million to build autonomous car that ‘runs on light’

Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA), an agency of the US military akin to Darpa, is funding a $4.8 million project spearheaded by Boston University College of Engineering, the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and Lightmatter, a startup developing “photonic supercomputing” chips.

Electro-photonic computing, or optical computing, is thought to hold the promise of solving one of the biggest technical hurdles that self-driving cars face today – delivering high performance, low latency computing power that is also energy efficient.

Pony.ai unveils new autonomous computing unit built on Nvidia Drive Orin

Pony.ai, an autonomous driving technology company, has developed a “complete autonomous computing unit” built on the Nvidia Drive Orin system-on-chip (SoC).

The company says this marks a “significant milestone” in its move from industrial-grade to automotive-grade hardware.
