B&R launches new generation of its industrial PC range

Automation PC 2200 is the latest generation of B&R‘s 2000 series of compact industrial PCs. Equipped with Intel Atom processors from the Apollo Lake generation, the Automation PC 2200 is available in either box PC or panel PC format.

Despite its compact dimensions, the Automation PC 2200 is a full-fledged PC system. Available with either dual or quad core processors, the Automation PC 2200 offers fully scalable processing power.

Thanks to B&R Hypervisor, the Automation Runtime real-time operating system can run simultaneously alongside Windows 10 IoT Enterprise or Linux. One device for data acquisition, evaluation and cloud storage

A single device to acquire data, evaluate it and send it to the cloud is now possible with B&R‘s Edge Controller.

The powerful industrial PC can even be used for big data analysis and machine learning, says the company, while at the same time serving as a fully-fledged industrial controller.

B&R’s Edge Controller is based on the robust Automation PC 910, whose high-performance variant is equipped with an Intel XEON processor able to handle resource-intensive tasks like machine learning.

ABB to invest €100 million in global innovation and training centre at B&R location

One year after announcing its acquisition of Bernecker + Rainer Industrie-Elektronik, ABB is to invest €100 million in Austria to build a state-of-the-art innovation and training campus at the home of B&R in Eggelsberg, Upper Austria.

It is the largest organic investment in industrial automation in ABB’s more than 130-year history and lays the foundation for around 1,000 new high-tech jobs in Austria.

B&R to present condition monitoring solution at Agritechnica

Automation company B&R is planning to showcase its condition monitoring solution for mobile automation, designed specifically for the agricultural sector.

B&R will be presenting the solution at this year’s Agritechnica exhibition – scheduled for November 12-18 in Hanover. B&R will be in hall A05, at booth 15.

B&R adds optimized engineering to 3D SuperTrak simulation

B&R has added a new visualization tool which it says accelerates the development of automation solutions featuring the company’s SuperTrak industrial transport system.

The tool displays a 3D simulation of all SuperTrak shuttle movements, as well as synchronized subsystems such as robotics and CNC.

B&R gives its industrial PC more power with Intel Xeon processor

B&R’s Automation PC 910 is now optionally available with an Intel Xeon processor to make it more powerful, says the company.

The new microarchitecture provides a “50 per cent increase in performance” compared to the previous high-performance Core i processors, adds B&R, which was recently acquired by industrial giant ABB.

ABB is to acquire B&R, said to be the largest independent provider focused on product- and software-based, open-architecture solutions for machine and factory automation worldwide.

B&R, founded in 1979 by Erwin Bernecker and Josef Rainer, is headquartered in Eggelsberg, Austria, and employs more than 3,000 people, including about 1,000 R&D and application engineers.
