Daimler delivers ‘autonomous-ready’ trucks to Torc Robotics

Daimler Truck North America has delivered a new fleet of autonomous-ready trucks to its subsidiary Torc Robotics, marking a significant milestone in their push toward commercializing driverless freight transport.

The vehicles, built on the newly launched fifth-generation Freightliner Cascadia platform, are now being integrated into Torc’s testing program along one of America’s busiest freight corridors between Laredo and Dallas.

The new trucks represent Daimler’s most advanced Class 8 platform yet, featuring built-in redundancy across critical safety systems such as braking and steering – essential for achieving SAE Level 4 autonomous operation. President Donald Trump is once again placing American manufacturing at the center of his economic agenda, promising to bring back industrial jobs and rebuild the nation’s productive base. His primary tool for doing so? Tariffs.

These duties on imported goods are designed to make foreign products more expensive, creating space for domestic producers to compete.

Fanuc opens new $110 million robotics and automation campus in Michigan

Fanuc America, one of the world’s largest suppliers of robotics and automation systems, has officially unveiled its new 650,000 square foot West Campus facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The expansion increases the footprint in Michigan to over 2 million square feet and is part of Fanuc America’s strategic investment plan to support and advance industrial automation in North America. The West Campus represents a $110 million investment built on 67 acres of land.

Fanuc America’s industry growth and customer demand has created over 400 jobs in Michigan since 2019. The West Campus provides advanced product manufacturing and customized automation systems and includes warehouse space for over 6,000 quick delivery robots and tens of thousands of parts. Fanuc America unveils new industrial robot

Fanuc, the world’s largest industrial robot maker, has introduced the new M-710iD/50M robot, representing the company’s first update to the popular M-710i robot series in 17 years.

Eric Potter, general manager, general industries and automotive segments, Fanuc America, says: “The high-performance of the M-710i robot series has made it a great choice for a variety of applications over the years.

North America industrial robot orders drop for second quarter

A slow US economy and high interest rates have taken a toll on robot orders in North American, resulting in a decline for the second quarter in a row after record purchases in 2021 and 2022.

According to the latest report from the Association for Advancing Automation (A3), companies ordered 7,697 robots valued at $457 million from April to July 2023, a 37 percent decline in robot orders and 20 percent drop in value over the same period in 2022.

When combined with first quarter results, the robotics market in North America is down 29 percent compared to the first half of last year with a total of 16,865 robots ordered. [Read more…] about North America industrial robot orders drop for second quarter

Korea Association of Robot Industry to operate Korea Pavilion at Automate Show

The Korea Association of Robot Industry (KAR) says it will be operating a “Korea Pavilion” at the Automate Show, which starts in a couple of days. Nine Korean companies will feature their products in Korea Pavilion located in booth number 3250 and 3452.

KAR has participated in many trade shows held in Europe and East Asia for the decades, but it has never participated in Automate or any other trade shows held in the US.

While China remains the largest market for Korean robot companies with exports worth of $319 million, The United States is the second-largest market with exports amounting to $204 million, according to the Korean Robot Industry Survey. Demand for robot vision system set to surpass $7 million by 2033

The global robot vision system market is likely at $2,690.4 million in 2023 and expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 10.4 percent during the forecast years of 2023-2033, according to a report by Fact.MR.

In order to improve job efficiency and replace human labour, the market for robots is rising and is anticipated to rise more during the coming year.
