Sick demonstrates ‘smart logistics’ system for warehouse automation

Sensors supplier Sick showcased a new “smart logistics” system at the recent ProMAT Show, one of the world’s largest material handling exhibitions.

Sick says its system demonstrates how to obtain greater efficiency throughout supply chain operations.

NextShift Robotics receives patent for vertical lift capability in robotic picking

NextShift Robotics, a provider of autonomous mobile robot solutions for automated order fulfilment and warehouse materials management, has been granted a second patent, US10214354B2, “Method and System for Automated Transport of Items”.

The patent pertains to operating a robotic picking system in which the containers to be picked are positioned on the shelves and within picking stations.

The patent covers the ability of the robot to raise itself vertically to access shelving of different heights in order to pick the appropriate container from a range of shelf heights and storage system configurations.

Komatsu establishes ‘center of excellence’ for its autonomous haulage trucks

Mining vehicles giant Komatsu has created what it describes as a “center of excellence” for its massive autonomous haulage trucks.

The company says the new facility brings together product, technology and service experts from across the company.

Montratec unveils ‘revolutionary and sensational’ automation technology at ProMAT

Montratec has unveiled what it describes as “revolutionary and sensational automation technology” at this year’s Automate Show. 

At the automation technology trade fair, the US-positioned German company demonstrated several new product developments of their future-oriented automation and transport system “montrac”.

Geek Plus Robotics looks set to expand into the multibillion-dollar forklift truck market

Geek Plus Robotics says it is receiving high levels of interest from heavy industry for its supply chain automation technologies, which are currently being showcased at ProMAT, in Chicago. 

A spokesperson for the company says the specific products generating the interest are its autonomous forklift truck as well as its M1000, which, as the name suggests, is a warehouse mobile robot with a payload of 1,000 kg. The driverless forklift’s payload is 1.6 tons.

Starship Technologies celebrates 50,000 autonomous deliveries with its robots

Starship says its autonomous delivery robots have now travelled over 200,000 miles – the equivalent of driving around the world more than eight times

Starship Technologies, the world’s leading provider of autonomous delivery services, today announced that it has passed the major milestone of 50,000 commercial deliveries.

The company’s robots have travelled in over 100 cities around the world, operating commercially every day in local neighbourhoods and university and corporate campuses across five different time zones.

RightHand Robotics, a provider of autonomous robotic piece-picking solutions, has released its RightPick2 solution, the company’s next-generation, integrated software and hardware product platform.

The launch was made at the ongoing ProMat Show in Chicago, a major showcase for material handling automation for supply chain, distribution and manufacturing.

inVia Robotics, a provider of warehouse automation solutions for e-commerce, has expanded the application of its Picker robots in additional Rakuten Super Logistics warehouses across the United States.

Following the success of an initial installation in 2018, RSL will roll out inVia’s automation technology for picking across its fulfillment network.

Otto Motors launches new self-driving vehicle for material handling

Otto Motors, a division of Clearpath Robotics, has launched “Otto 750”, which it claims to be “the first self-driving vehicle for material handling with a payload of 750 kg”.

Otto 750 is a mid-range self-driving vehicle designed to move pallet-scale loads which would otherwise be manually moved by a pump truck or tugger.
