SICK’s Open Service for IO-Link Function Blocks

A pioneering open software service that creates ready-made IO-Link function blocks to integrate data from any IO-Link device into a wide range of common PLC control systems has been launched by the sensor manufacturer SICK.

The SICK Function Block Factory is the first web-based service of its type that enables users to create function blocks automatically from any IO-link device with an I/O device description (IODD), no matter what the device type or its manufacturer. EasyMile launches autonomous tow tractor

Autonomous shuttle manufacturer EasyMile has launched what it claims is the first autonomous tow tractor dedicated to material handling within a private site.

TractEasy is designed for use at a factory or a logistics center, and is able to operate both inside and outside in a complex urban-like environment.

Swisslog partners with retail chain H-E-B to build automated micro-fulfillment centers

Swisslog, a warehouse automation company, has partnered with H-E-B in San Antonio, Texas to support the company’s growing demand for online fulfillment.

H-E-B says demand for its online grocery services is continuing to accelerate.

AutoStore new Router system improves warehouse robotic productivity by up to 40 percent

AutoStore, the Norwegian robotics technology company, says its new “Router”, a newly developed software suite for its cube based order fulfillment system “increases robot productivity and efficiency by up to 40 percent”.

Karl Johan Lier, CEO of AutoStore, says: “The launch of Router could not have come at a better time. This software, available to all AutoStore users, will change the order-fulfillment landscape at a time when the ability to adapt quickly means everything.

Wilson Logistics orders 1,120 autonomous truck systems from Locomation

Wilson Logistics has ordered 1,120 autonomous truck systems from Locomation. The companies claim this is “the world’s first autonomous truck purchase order”.

Locomation is a provider of autonomous trucking technology and Wilson Logistics is a large transportation logistics company based in Springfield, Missouri, USA.

Under the terms of the deal, a minimum of 1,120 Wilson Logistics tractors or trucks are to be equipped with Locomation’s Autonomous Relay Convoy (ARCTM) technology, with the first units delivered in early 2022.
