Shanghai Electric celebrates a decade of Nedschroef acquisition as it breaks ground to build new factory in Spain

Inside Yoke Industrial’s smart factory: 108 robotic arms and 71 automation systems working to enhance quality and efficiency

What’s described as a “bifocal modernisation strategy”, implemented in 2011, is ongoing at Yoke Industrial’s pioneering industrial lifting equipment manufacturing facility

Production at Taiwanese company Yoke Industrial Corp started in 1997.

A lot has changed since, as we’ll explore in this article. What hasn’t changed, however, is that there are long-term career opportunities in an ever-evolving manufacturing environment.

Yoke’s approximately 56,000 square-metre facility produces a staggering 20 million pieces per year. The smart factory is built on 71 automation systems with 108 robotic arms; it is an automated fleet of state-of-the-art Fanuc equipment, that represents around $30 million worth of investment. In October 2024, for example, the total time of robotics operation topped 5,176 hours. Heraeus inaugurates new facility in China

Heraeus Electronics Technology – a Germany-headquartered company specializing in the production of electronics components and special materials – has officially started operations at the Changshu New & Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone (CNZ), Jiangsu Province.

Heraeus produces electronics materials such as metal ceramic substrates, serves high-quality development in fields like electric vehicles and new energies, and says it “supports China in achieving the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality”.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new facility, Jan Rinnert, chairman and CEO of Heraeus Group, said: “Today marks a significant further expansion of our presence and coincides with the 50th anniversary of Heraeus in China.

ZF opens new e-mobility manufacturing plant in China

ZF has opened a new e-mobility plant, known as ZF Electric Mobility Systems, Shenyang.

As ZF’s third e-mobility plant in China, Shenyang plant gathers ZF’s advanced technology and innovative concepts, and will produce and sell advanced products such as electric axle drives for new energy vehicles, to provide more high-quality and high-efficiency e-mobility solutions for customers in China and the world.

The main products of the Shenyang plant are the electric axle drives for new energy vehicles. Its core components are based on ZF’s modular kit electric drive platform and cover both front and rear axles, including motors, power electronics and reducers. ABB opens new $100 million campus in Wisconsin

ABB has started the phased opening of a new $100 million campus in New Berlin, Wisconsin to increase US production capacity of industrial electric drives and service to fully meet Build America Buy America Act (BABAA) requirements.

ABB employees, elected officials, education leaders, and media gathered for a ribbon cutting event to mark the first phase opening of the campus.

Nidec opens new new factory in China

Nidec Machine Tool has completed the construction of a new factory that its subsidiary Nidec Machine Tool (Zhejiang) had been building in the city of Pinghu, Zhejiang Province, China.

The factory is already at full-scale operation and was constructed to establish a prompt machine tool supply system to meet China’s domestic needs for autos, robots, and industrial machines among others, this new, three-floor factory, whose first-phase construction started in March 2023, covers an area of approximately 66,000 sq m, including an approximately 18,000 sq m first floor.

The new factory houses, among others, a machine tool assembly area, a component machining area, and an office, in addition to a 600 sq m internal showroom, the first of its kind for the Company to have in China, to exhibit products made in the new factory and those produced by the Nidec Group’s machine tool companies in Japan and elsewhere. Denso to construct ‘24-hour unmanned’ facility in Japan

Japanese automotive components giant Denso says it will build a new, “24-hour unmanned” facility in Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture, by expanding the site of its Zenmyo Plant.

Construction will start in the first half of 2025 and will be completed in January 2027, with production slated to start in the first half of 2028. The total investment will be about 69 billion yen, which is about $463 million.

Gebrüder Weiss expands logistics facilities in Georgia

The international transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss has extended its logistics terminal in Tbilisi, Georgia, by some 13,000 square meters in a move that will further expand its capacities in the Caucasus region.

Wolfram Senger-Weiss, CEO at Gebrüder Weiss, says: “This expansion is our response to the rising demand for transport and logistics services in the region, which are growing largely due to the increase in trade between the European Union, Georgia, and its neighbors Armenia and Azerbaijan.”
