Dürr and GROB showcase new concept factory for battery cell production

June 13, 2025 by Sam Francis

Dürr to adopt new brand name as it aims for ‘more innovation in 50 percent less production space’

Less space and energy requirements, but more performance and the highest battery cell quality – that is the approach taken by engineering companies Dürr and GROB for their new concept factory for the production of lithium-ion battery cells.

At this year’s Battery Show Europe trade fair in Stuttgart, the two partners will be the largest exhibitors, showcasing the technical innovations that make this possible.

Key technologies include dry coating of the electrodes, which does not require a drying process, and powerful Z-folder technology for cell assembly with integrated notching. [Read more…] about Dürr and GROB showcase new concept factory for battery cell production

How Advanced Welding is Transforming Auto Repair

May 23, 2025 by Mai Tao

How Advanced Welding Technologies Are Reshaping Automotive Repair Standards

Welding in the auto industry has come a long way from its rough-and-ready roots. Today’s tools – especially the fiber laser welder – bring a level of precision and control that was unthinkable not too long ago.

These machines create narrow, ultra-clean welds with minimal heat distortion, allowing for faster, safer repairs that preserve the integrity of even the most advanced materials.

Pair that with automation and robotic arms, and you’ve got a repair process that’s not just faster, but smarter and more consistent. [Read more…] about How Advanced Welding is Transforming Auto Repair

Designing for Depth: Overcoming Engineering Challenges in Subsea Habitats

May 10, 2025 by David Edwards

As humanity ventures further into the oceans, the concept of living and working beneath the waves has evolved from science fiction to tangible reality.

Subsea habitats – pressurized structures that allow humans to live and conduct research underwater for extended periods – present unique engineering challenges that demand innovation across materials science, structural design, environmental control, and human factors.

Designing these habitats requires a multidisciplinary approach that can withstand immense pressure, guarantee safety, and enable long-term occupancy in one of the planet’s most hostile environments. [Read more…] about Designing for Depth: Overcoming Engineering Challenges in Subsea Habitats
