The creation of new AI careers: 4 high-paying jobs that didn’t even exist five years ago

July 5, 2025 by David Edwards

As artificial intelligence continues to transform nearly every sector of the economy, it’s not just machines that are evolving – job markets are too.

While fears of AI replacing workers still dominate headlines, a quieter revolution is under way: the rapid emergence of entirely new, high-paying roles built around leveraging, managing, and guiding AI systems.

Experts at software development firm Azumo have identified four distinct AI-powered professions that didn’t exist just five years ago. These roles offer six-figure salaries and represent the cutting edge of human–AI collaboration – not competition. RoboCup 2025 brings the world’s top robot soccer teams to Brazil

July 5, 2025 by David Edwards

Regarded by some as “the world’s largest robotics and artificial intelligence competition”, RoboCup returns to Brazil this month, with more than 250 teams from 37 countries preparing to compete in a high-stakes showdown of autonomous machines.

Set to take place in Salvador, Brazil from July 17 to 21, RoboCup 2025 will feature cutting-edge robots battling it out in fully autonomous soccer matches, alongside competitions in rescue, home service, and industrial robotics.

Founded in 1997, RoboCup has long served as a proving ground for AI and robotics researchers, with its most ambitious goal still decades in the making: to develop humanoid robots capable of defeating the human FIFA World Cup champions by 2050 in a fair match. Honda integrates Nidec’s omnidirectional wheels into personal mobility machine

July 5, 2025 by David Edwards

Honda has integrated Nidec’s jointly developed omnidirectional drive unit into its latest personal mobility robot, Uni-One, now available for test rides at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

Uni-One – a hands‑free, seated mobility device – allows users to steer simply by shifting body weight, while keeping both hands free for other tasks.

It features a dynamic height adjustment: a low position for safe boarding and a higher posture while moving to bring the rider closer to eye‑level with standing individuals, supporting more natural social interaction. Are scientists really bringing extinct animals back to life? How about extinct humans?

May 10, 2025 by David Edwards

The concept of bringing extinct animals back to life, once confined to the realm of science fiction like the Jurassic Park films, is rapidly becoming a tangible reality.

Scientists are employing advanced techniques such as genetic engineering, cloning, and back-breeding to revive lost species, sparking both excitement and ethical debate.

While the idea of a real-life Jurassic Park – a science-fiction film in which dinosaurs are brought back to life from a mosquito found preserved in amber (main image) – remains far-fetched, there seems to be a great deal of progress being made in the whole science of “de-extinction”.
