Slamcore extends its spatial intelligence to Texas Instruments Arm-based processors

Slamcore says its spatial intelligence algorithms have been optimized for the Texas Instruments (TI) TDA4x family of processors.

Qualcomm releases ‘groundbreaking IoT and robotics’ platforms

Qualcomm Technologies has launched what it says are “the world’s first” integrated 5G IoT processors that are designed to support four major operating systems, in addition to two new robotics platforms, and an accelerator program for IoT ecosystem partners.

These new innovations will empower manufacturers participating in the rapidly expanding world of devices at the connected intelligent edge.

The need for connected, intelligent, and autonomous devices is growing rapidly, and it is expected to hit $116 billion by 2030 according to Precedence Research. Teradyne and Syntiant partner to ‘significantly shorten time to market’ for new AI chips

Teradyne, a supplier of automated test solutions, says the company’s UltraFLEX test platform has enabled AI chip company Syntiant to successfully ship millions of its microwatt-power, deep learning Neural Decision Processors to customers worldwide.

Built from a clean sheet, hardware/software co-design methodology that optimizes silicon and deep learning models together, the Syntiant NDP100 and Syntiant NDP101 Neural Decision Processors bring hands-free, cloud-free, always-on voice and sensor AI applications to battery-powered edge devices.

EasyMile and Kalray expand autonomous mobility partnership

Autonomous technology provider EasyMile and intelligent processors supplier Kalray have deepened their relationship with the signature of a deal formalizing their relationship to develop intelligent systems.

The partnership follows their work together in the 10-partner-strong ES3CAP collaborative project, led by Kalray and announced in 2019.

The ES3CAP program, with a budget of €22.2 million over three years, aims to build a hardware and software platform intended for manufacturers developing critical applications requiring high computing capacity in the fields of aeronautics (aviation, flying cabs, UAVs), defense and, autonomous vehicles. Einride driverless trucks now powered by Nvidia chips

Autonomous electric truck maker Einride says the next generation of its groundbreaking “Pods” will use the Nvidia Drive AGX Orin autonomous vehicle computing platform to handle high-speed, unmanned operations.

Pär Degerman, CTO of Einride, says: “Safety and functionality in autonomous drive are achieved in two ways: diversity and redundancy.

NXP becomes lead partner for Arm Ethos U-55 machine learning accelerators

NXP Semiconductors has agreed a lead partnership role with Arm for Ethos-U55 microNPU (Neural Processing Unit), a machine learning accelerator targeted at resource-constrained industrial and IoT edge devices.

As an industry-leading innovator of microcontrollers (MCUs), NXP intends to implement Ethos U-55 in its Cortex-M based microcontrollers, crossover MCUs and real-time sub-systems in applications processors.

NXP launches new chip with ‘10 times more processing power’ to support autonomous cars

NXP Semiconductors has launched a new processor with “10 times more processing power” to support autonomous driving functions.

NXP is believed to be the world’s largest supplier of automotive semiconductors.

The company says the new S32G vehicle network processors mark a “significant turning point” in the way vehicle architectures are designed and implemented.

As the latest offering from NXP’s S32 family of processors, the S32G processors enable the automotive industry shift to high performance domain-based vehicle architectures and provide reduced software complexity and enhanced security and safety. OnLogic unveils new line of mini PCs powered by AMD Ryzen Embedded processors

Computer hardware manufacturer OnLogic has teamed up with AMD to release a line of small form factor industrial computers powered by AMD Ryzen Embedded processors.

Both the ultra-compact fanless ML100G-40, and actively-cooled MC510-40 are available for pre-order now and limited quantities are expected to begin shipping to customers this month.

Report: Annual edge AI processor shipments forecast to reach 1.5 billion units by 2023

In its first forecast of Artificial Intelligence (AI) edge processors, market intelligence firm International Data Corporation (IDC) estimates that worldwide shipments of AI-optimised processors for edge systems will reach 340.1 million units in 2019, an increase of 170% over 2018.

By 2023, IDC expects the market will reach unit shipments of 1.5 billion and achieve a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 64.9%.

Texas Instruments has launched what it says is the industry’s first multiprotocol gigabit time-sensitive networking-enabled processor range.

The new, highly integrated Sitara AM6x processor family provides industrial-grade reliability, with quad and dual Arm Cortex-A53 core variants built to meet the rapidly evolving needs of Industry 4.0 in factory automation, motor drives and grid infrastructure.
