Kreatize raises €4 million for digital platform for industrial components production

Kreatize, which claims to be Germany’s first fully-automated digital platform that supports the production of industrial components for the mechanical engineering market and its manufacturing partners, has raised €4 million in its Series A round of funding only 18 months after market launch.

The main investors involved in this round are Earlybird Venture Capital and Atlantic Labs.

Robotics challenge: ExxonMobil extends deadline for $60,000 competition

ExxonMobil is offering $60,000 in a robotics challenge designed to find new innovations in the field of energy. 

The company has extended its deadline for submissions to May 13th, 2019.

The aim of the challenge is to develop solutions for “pain points and technology gaps” in the natural resources industry.

The Robotics Reverse Pitch Challenge, organized by BBL Ventures, is inviting submissions from local and international businesses as well as educational institutions.

Prospective entrepreneurs are also invited to enter the competition.

As an OEM Program Participant, Arnold Machine enhances quality and consistency while optimizing costs and reducing waste by building automated systems for automotive, oil and gas and appliance manufacturers, including:

  • automated adhesive dispensing systems;
  • robotic and automated spray systems;
  • automated assembly systems;
  • process heating equipment; and
  • material handling systems.

Abstract raises $30 million to enable designers to work like developers

Abstract, the git-enabled design workflow platform that already supports thousands of modern product design teams, has raised $30 million in Series C funding.

Lightspeed Venture Partners led the round with participation from existing investors Scale Venture Partners, Amplify Partners, and Cowboy Ventures, bringing the total funding to-date to $54.2 million.

Energy giant ExxonMobil is offering $60,000 prize money as part of its first-ever robotics and automation innovation competition.

Organized by BBL Ventures, the “Reverse Robotics Pitch Challenge for ExxonMobil” is open now and is inviting innovation in a number of areas.

Five ideas for smart cities emerge in tech contest

Sponsored by Honeywell‘s corporate citizenship initiative Honeywell Hometown Solutions, the TeChallenge Competition in Bucharest challenged students to combine innovative thinking with automated solutions to protect environment, save energy and improve living standards.

The event encourages students from Politehnica University and local high schools in Romania to develop their technical knowledge and creativity in areas such as energy efficiency, new energy sources, renewable technologies, intelligent technologies, smart cities, mobility and natural gas in the 21st century.

Husqvarna has released its Automower 435X AWD, an artificial intelligence-enabled, robotic mower with all-wheel drive and smart home connectivity.

The company describes the impressive-looking machine as an “iconic, fully autonomous robotic lawnmower”.

TDK sensors enhance Qualcomm Robotics RB3 platform

TDK Corporation is working with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. through its group company, InvenSense, to contribute a product portfolio of MEMS motion and audio sensor solutions to the new Qualcomm Robotics RB3 Platform.

Based on the Qualcomm SDA/SDM845 system-on-chip (SoC), the Qualcomm Robotics RB3 platform is a set of hardware, software and tools designed to help manufacturers and developers create advanced consumer, enterprise and industrial robotics products.

The platform will support InvenSense’s 6-axis IMUs (3-axis gyroscope and 3-axis accelerometer), capacitive barometric pressure sensor, and multi-mode digital microphones.

Toyota updates its virtual crash test dummy software

Version 6 will contribute to the development of collision safety technologies for future vehicles, including automated

Toyota and its research and development unit has released Version 6 of the Total Human Model for Safety (THUMS) virtual crash dummy software.

Researched and developed for over 20 years by the two companies, THUMS simulates detailed computer analysis of human body injuries caused by vehicle collisions.
