Karlsruhe demonstrates robotic system for custom manufacturing

September 2, 2020 by David Edwards

There’s been a lot of talk in recent years about what’s sometimes called “custom manufacturing”, or the “batch of one” concept.

The idea behind such phrases is to create manufacturing processes that can almost tailor-make products for individual customers.

So let’s say if you wanted a particular brand of bicycle but would like your bike to have higher handle bars or wider foot pedals, the maker should be able to provide that without having to incur significantly greater production costs or add much to your purchase price. Accerion launches ‘world’s first infrastructure-free, sub-millimeter accuracy’ localization sensor for mobile robots

September 2, 2020 by Liv

Accerion has released a new localization sensor for mobile robots and automated guided vehicles.

The company says the sensor, called Triton, “sets the new standard” in mobile robot and AGV positioning for manufacturers and logistics operators who demand the highest degree of flexibility, adaptability, speed and precision.

After months of field testing in pilot programs across the globe, Triton is robust, proven and ready for high-performance logistics operations, supporting use cases such as free navigation, high-precision docking and virtual line following. Cosel announces 3W high isolation DC/DC converters for medical and industrial applications

September 1, 2020 by Liv

Cosel Co, Ltd announced the addition of a new series of high isolation 3W DC/DC converters for medical and industrial applications.

Packaged in a Single In Line (SIP) type 8, the Cosel MH3 series has a reinforce isolation of 3kVAC, 4.2KVDC, complies with medical isolation standard (2MOOP (250VAC)) and ruggedized for industrial applications that might implies differential In/Out voltage.

Three input voltages (4.5V-18V ; 9V – 36V and 18V -76V) and a large variety of single (MHFS3) and dual output (MHFW3) cover a large range of applications. Designed for performances, the MH3 has only 20pF max insulation capacitance reducing noise transfer. The Cosel MH3 is a unique design from Cosel, manufactured in Japan and covers by a 5 years warranty. SkyDrive launches ‘world’s smallest flying car’

September 1, 2020 by Mai Tao

A Japanese startup company called SkyDrive has unveiled what it claims is the world’s smallest flying car. (See video below.)

Designed to carry one person, the vehicle could be said to be the aerial equivalent of a motorcycle.

SkyDrive says it can put the what we’ll call the “airbike” into mass production in just two years’ time, by which time there should be more regulations about aerial vehicles. [Read more…] about SkyDrive launches ‘world’s smallest flying car’

Indy Autonomous Challenge to use RTI software to build and race autonomous vehicles

August 28, 2020 by David Edwards

Real-Time Innovations (RTI), a software framework provider for smart machines and real-world systems, has joined the Indy Autonomous Challenge (IAC), the two-year, $1.5 million university competition to advance autonomous mobility technologies and enable the next generation of mobility leaders.

RTI is providing software to more than 500 students globally to design and develop the control software to autonomously race full-size, modified Dallara IL-15 racecars.

The students are competing in the first-ever head-to-head, high-speed autonomous race on the world’s largest racing stage, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, in October 2021. [Read more…] about Indy Autonomous Challenge to use RTI software to build and race autonomous vehicles
