Dedicated Lanes for Autonomous Vehicles

January 23, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Autonomous, or self-driving vehicles are already here, although in limited use. These cars and trucks have great promise for improving the driving experience for individuals and making trucking more efficient and less costly.

They are in the testing phase and will not be widely adopted until late in his decade.

Many in the industry originally thought progress for autonomous vehicles would be further along by now, but some difficulties have arisen. Safety is the primary concern, especially when these vehicles go truly driverless. Many on the road now have a human copilot aboard to make certain no safety issues arise. How to Make Classic Cars Safer?

November 7, 2023 by David Edwards

The truth of the matter is that we cannot compare our modern-day car with our old car. They are, in many ways, different. For instance, Older cars are made of steel, while modern cars are made of aluminum.

That’s not all; the designs are different; likewise, the interior and the exterior are totally not the same and can not meet up to the standard modern cars. Now, in terms of safety, we all know that that should be everyone’s priority, even before considering fancy features.

The good news is that modern-day cars are blessed more bountifully in that department than the older classic cars. We are not saying classic cars do not have any safety features; of course, they are just not as we now have in modern cars. [Read more…] about How to Make Classic Cars Safer?

Is Waymo Safer than Cruise?

November 7, 2023 by Mark Allinson

cruise automation cars

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Highway Loss Data Institute, 42,939 drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and others died in 2021 across the U.S. and Puerto Rico as the result of 39,508 crashes involving 61,322 vehicles. The estimated national economic impact exceeded $340 billion.

Data from previous decades revealed fewer yearly crashes, vehicles and related deaths. Although the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent distractions and adverse events likely increased the 2021 numbers, experts believe an increase in the world population might lead to a pattern of ever-increasing crashes every year going forward.

That said, the rate of crash deaths out of 100,000 people remains low. In fact, the 2021 numbers were 39% lower than similar data in the 40 years prior. As a result, proponents of self-driving tech believe their vehicles will reduce overall yearly deaths and injuries, while offering convenience and other benefits. In the future, buying cars will ‘feel more like buying a laptop computer’

September 5, 2023 by David Edwards

By Dr James Jeffs, senior technology analyst at IDTechEx

Computer chips have been part of cars for a long time, but no one really cares about them until they stop working or they are late to the production line, grinding manufacturing to an industry-shaking halt.

However, the research within IDTechEx’s “Semiconductors for Autonomous and Electric Vehicles 2023-2033” report shows that trends within the automotive industry mean consumers will soon be caring far more about what chips are in their cars.

IDTechEx expects that purchasing a new vehicle will soon feel like shopping for a new laptop. [Read more…] about In the future, buying cars will ‘feel more like buying a laptop computer’
