NTN Europe invests €30 million in aerospace site and plans 100 new hires

NTN Europe, one of the world leaders in bearings, has announced a major investment to develop its Argonay production site in France, dedicated to the aerospace industry.

The aim is to meet the growing demand in this sector, and to enable this strategic division, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary, to grow by 40 percent by 2030.

Nidec inaugurates new manufacturing hub in India

Nidec, the world’s leading manufacturer of electric motors, generators, renewable energy solutions, and industrial machinery, has inaugurated its cutting-edge manufacturing campus, Orchard Hub, located in the Kotur-Belur Industrial Area of Hubli-Dharwad, Karnataka.

The inauguration marks the launch of plant machinery and equipment installation across the six campus plants, paving the way for production to commence later this year.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mr. M. B. Patil, Honourable Cabinet Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Government of Karnataka, along with Mr. Michael Briggs, president of Nidec Motion & Energy. Linxens partners with Dracula to develop ‘breakthrough’ battery-free, solar-powered devices for industrial IoT

Linxens, a provider of component-based solutions for authentication and traceability, and Dracula Technologies, a pioneer in ambient light energy harvesting, have agreed a strategic collaboration to develop “next-generation autonomous IoT solutions” for traceability and smart labelling applications.

This collaboration paves the way for smarter and more sustainable connected devices.

Sync Robotic unveils ‘Taiwan’s first’ physical AI robot for smart security and inspection

Sync Robotic, a subsidiary of Foxlink Group, has unveiled its AI Robot Platform, with its first deployment targeting the fast-growing global market for intelligent security and inspection. (See video below.)

The solution combines advanced hardware with reinforcement learning, integrating technologies such as speech and visual recognition, vision-language models (VLM), simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), path planning, and human-aware obstacle avoidance.

Suzuki lays foundation for new motorcycle plant in India

Suzuki’s motorcycle subsidiary in India, Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) held the foundation stone laying ceremony on May 20 for its new motorcycle manufacturing plant to be constructed in Kharkhoda in the state of Haryana, India.

The ceremony took place at the planned site of the new factory in Kharkhoda. Attendees included Haryana State government officials, Kyoko Hokugo, minister, Embassy of Japan in India, Kenichi Umeda, managing director of SMIPL, and Takashi Ise, managing officer, executive general manager, motorcycle operations of Suzuki.

Since the start of production in 2006, SMIPL has manufactured approximately 9 million motorcycles cumulatively, supplying not only the Indian domestic market but also exporting to regions including Latin America, Japan, and Europe. Hyundai installs AI-powered EV charging robots at South Korean airport

Hyundai Motor Group and Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) have forged a strategic agreement to install AI-based electric vehicle automatic charging robots (ACRs) at the airport as part of a demonstration project.

To that end, Hyundai signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IIAC. The signing was attended by Heui Won Yang, president and head of R&D at Hyundai; Hag Jae Lee, president and CEO of IIAC; and other officials from both parties.

Yang said: “This collaboration will serve as a significant milestone in verifying the practical benefits of future mobility technologies by combining Hyundai Motor Group’s robotics and AI capabilities with Incheon International Airport Corporation’s extensive operational experience. Hyundai breaks ground to build new electric vehicles factory in Saudi Arabia

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Middle East (HMMME) – a joint venture between PIF, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia with almost a trillion dollars in assets under management, and Hyundai Motor Company – hosted a groundbreaking ceremony in the recently announced King Salman Automotive Cluster within King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC).

The ceremony was described as “a significant milestone that marks another step in the development of the automotive industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”.

PIF owns a 70 percent stake in HMMME, with Hyundai holding the remaining 30 percent. The manufacturing plant, Hyundai’s first facility in the Middle East, will roll out its first vehicle by the fourth quarter of 2026 and targets an annual production of 50,000 vehicles. Toyota invests additional $88 million in its US West Virginia plant

Toyota’s North American subsidiary, Toyota North America, has unveiled an additional investment of $88 million in its West Virginia plant to assemble the next generation of hybrid transaxles.

This brings the total investment in this plant to more than $2.8 billion.

Roche and Genentech to spend $700 million building new manufacturing facility

Genentech, a subsidiary of the Roche Group, has unveiled plans to invest more than $700 million in a new 700,000 square foot state-of-the-art drug manufacturing facility in Holly Springs, North Carolina.

The project will add more than 400 high-wage manufacturing jobs when the site is operational and more than 1,500 construction jobs during site development.

The new facility will ultimately support Roche and Genentech’s future portfolio of next-generation obesity medicines and this initial investment could expand in the future based on business needs and the US policy environment.
