Hyundai and Plus AI to roll out hydrogen-powered autonomous trucks across US freight routes

Hyundai and Plus AI have unveiled a shared vision at the recent Advanced Clean Transportation Expo in Anaheim, California, outlining their collaboration on autonomous hydrogen-powered fuel cell trucks and their aims to accelerate the development of a hydrogen-powered freight network in the United States.

The collaboration pairs Hyundai Motor’s hydrogen-powered XCIENT Fuel Cell truck with Plus’s AI-based autonomous driving software, SuperDrive, proposing a scalable and cost-effective solution to long-haul freight that aims to reduce the carbon footprint of commercial transportation.

US government launches new plan to beat China in the autonomous vehicles race

The US government has unveiled a new plan or “framework” to beat China in the autonomous vehicle race.

Sean P. Duffy, US Secretary of Transportation, announced the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) new Automated Vehicle (AV) Framework as part of his transportation innovation agenda.

Nissan to launch next generation autonomous driving technology in 2027

Nissan says it will launch its next generation autonomous driving technology – ProPILOT – from fiscal year 2027.

The system, featuring Nissan Ground Truth Perception technology with next-generation Lidar and Wayve AI Driver software, will “set a new standard” for autonomous driving with advanced collision avoidance capability.

Autonomous trucking company Kodiak Robotics to go public: What it means and why it matters

Kodiak Robotics, a startup developing autonomous truck technology, is planning to go public via a merger with Ares Acquisition Corporation II, a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC).

The deal values Kodiak at approximately $1.1 billion in net proceeds and $2.5 billion in total equity value, according to statements from the company.

While the transaction is still subject to approval by shareholders and regulators, it is expected to close in the second half of 2025. Daimler delivers ‘autonomous-ready’ trucks to Torc Robotics

Daimler Truck North America has delivered a new fleet of autonomous-ready trucks to its subsidiary Torc Robotics, marking a significant milestone in their push toward commercializing driverless freight transport.

The vehicles, built on the newly launched fifth-generation Freightliner Cascadia platform, are now being integrated into Torc’s testing program along one of America’s busiest freight corridors between Laredo and Dallas.

Autonomous truck startup Kodiak to go public

Autonomous trucking startup Kodiak Robotics is to go public through a merger with Ares Acquisition Corporation II, a special purpose acquisition company affiliated with Ares Management Corporation.

The deal will make Kodiak a publicly listed company under the name Kodiak AI, with shares expected to trade under the ticker symbols KDK and KDK WS, pending regulatory approval.
